BERGH LMJ VAN DER (1986) Waterfowl census in January 1985. LIMOSA 59 (4): 183-188.

This paper presents the numbers of waterfowl counted in the Netherlands between 5 and 21 January 1985. This period was characterized by frost and heavy Almost 783 000 birds belonging to 26 species were counted (tab. 1). Coot, Mallard, Wigeon, Tufted Duck, Pochard, and Shelduck were the most numerous species. In 1980-85, the numbers of swans were larger than during the period 1975-79 (fig. 3). In 1985, 24 areas held one or more species with at least 1% of the NW.
