A specimen of "Sabine's Snipe", a very dark and differently patterned variant of the Snipe Gallinago gallinago, was collected in Friesland (Netherlands) in september 1916, but this record has not hitherto been published. Attention is paid to the fact that most records of this snipe date from before 1920, and that since then this variant has not been recorded anywhere.
