On 22 January 1976 a Barn Owl Tyto alba was captured and ringed near Ommen (Overijssel) Netherlands. Its plumage (underparts, face and underwing immaculate white lacking dark spots (figure 1), upperparts orange-yellow) matched in all respects to the description of the race alba. On 20 April 1976 it was reported as being killed by traffic near Varades, Loire-Atlantique (47.23 N, 01.02 W) at the west coast of France, in the breeding area of the race alba. It is supposed that this owl after having dispersed to the north returned in spring to its breeding area in SW. France.Barn Owl Tyto alba
