BRINKMAN C (2021) Song Thrush Turdus philomelos eating a Common Frog Rana temporaria. LIMOSA 94 (4): 174-176.

On February 10, 2021, Jacob Garvelink observed a Song Thrush preying on a Common Frog in the dune reserve Amsterdamse Waterleidingduinen near the town of Zandvoort. The thrush struggled, but eventually swallowed the frog whole. How the thrush got hold of the frog is unknown. Due to a thick snow cover during this period, birds probably struggled to collect enough food and a lethargic frog possibly offered little resistance. Although Song Thrushes are known to be opportunistic feeders, this is only the second time predation of a Song Thrush on a Common Frog was observed.
