BIJLSMA R.G. (2015) Foliage-bathing of Wood Warbler Phylloscopus sibilatrix. LIMOSA 88 (3): 131-132.
In woodland in the northern part of the Netherlands, on 26 July 2015, a Wood Warbler was observed foliage-bathing in a Rowan Sorbus aucuparia. On this day, as the days before, it had been raining profusely and pools were available across the forest. Nevertheless, the bird used the water droplets on top of the leaves to get soaked, wallowing intensively with extended wings and concomitantly ruffling its feathers and
shaking its head. After a minute it was disturbed by Great Tits Parus major, and started preening for some five minutes at the edge of the forest.
