EGGENHUIZEN T & BREEK K (1995) Short contributions: Capture of a one-legged Kestrel Falco tinnunculus. LIMOSA 68 (3): 119-120.

On 2 September, 1994, an adult female Kestrel was captured for ringing activities. The bird had no right leg, only 1.5 centimeters of the tibia could be palpated and the bird was not able to use this part for standing. The outer toe of the left leg had grown a little outward. On the basis of body mass and moult stage we deduced that the bird was in good condition, and it was decided that the bird could be ringed. Unfortunately, one month later the bird was found alive in the front grille of a car after collision, and died shortly after. Again the moult score was recorded and body mass measured. The bird seemed to have been in good shape before colliding with the car. Common Kestrel Falco tinnunculus
