JUKEMA J (1995) Short contributions: Not all small golden plovers are Lesser Golden Plovers. LIMOSA 68 (1): 35-36.

In October-November 1993, five small-sized Golden Plovers were captured at three localities in Friesland province, The Netherlands, representing the first 'dwarfs' among 13 000 Golden Plovers Pluvialis apricaria captured here during the pas 20 years. Three of these dwarfs examined in detail were all in full juvenile plumage, whereas they should have been in first winter plumage. Their body masses were considerably lower than expected on the basis of their dimensions. The presence of white axillaries iu each of the five birds excluded the possibility of them being either P.fulva or P. dominica.
