BOURGONJE A (1994) Short contributions: Wintering Scandinavian Rock Pipits Anthus spinoletta littoralis at Verdronken Land van Saeftinghe. LIMOSA 67 (3): 117-118.

During a winter survey of songbirds in a 2450 ha saltmarsh in the eastern part of the Scheidt estuary, province of Zeeland, 2934 (14 November 1992) and 2313 (23 January 1993) Scandinavian Rock Pipits were counted. Extrapolated, this results in a total of 5300 birds for the entire marsh. These numbers are significantly larger than previous surveys or estimates suggested. The pipits appeared to feed mainly on the mollusk Asiminea grayana Rock Pipit Anthus petrosus = Anthus spinoletta littoralis
