Ruff feed in winter mainly at arable land and towards spring mainly in meadows at the Dutch/Belgian border. They roost at the Braakmankreek, where they stand in the water, so it was not possible to collect their droppings. Droppings could be collected from the ice during a period of frost in January 1993.
