DONKERS H (1994) Short contributions: Remarkable distraction display ofWoodpigeon Columba palumbus. LIMOSA 67 (2): 80-80.
A Woodpigeon was seen in distraction display on the ground, close to a female Sparrowhawk which was struggling with another, live Woodpigeon. This display continued as long as the predator's victim was alive and moving. Upon inspection, the killed Woodpigeon turned out to be a recently fledged juvenile. The displaying bird is thought to have been one of its parents. Common Wood Pigeon Columba palumbus
