JUKEMA J & RIJPMA U (1993) Short contributions: Leap-frog migration of Dutch White Wagtails Motacilla alba. LIMOSA 66 (3): 125-126.

On the basis of 17 winter recoveries of White Wagtails breeding in the northerly province of Friesland, and of 25 recoveries of wagtails breeding more southerly in The Netherlands, we show the existence of leap-frog migration within a geographically restricted breeding population. In winter, Frisian wagtails are recovered significantly farther south (35? l8'N, fig 1) than southern Dutch White Wagtails (400 45'N). White Wagtail Motacilla alba
