A description is given of two adult Hobbies catching a Redstart Phoenicurus phoenicurus over a saltmarsh on the Wadden Sea Island of Schiermonnikoog on September 7th, 1990. The area is flat, without much cover and swarming with passerines' during migration. The same Redstart had been chased and attacked unsuccesfully by a Merlin Falco columbarius for several minutes just before the Hobbies showed up.
