KOOPMAN K (1989) Origin of foreign Common Gulls Larus canus in the Netherlands. LIMOSA 62 (4): 191-194.

Common Gull Larus canus canus Common Gulls visiting the Netherlands from abroad originate from northern and northeastern parts of Europe (up to NW. Russia), with the bulk corning from Sweden (predominantly passing birds to southern wintering areas) and Finland (particularly genuine wintering birds). The proportion of first-year Norwegian gulls is larger than average. Probably relatively more adults from this country cross the North Sea to winter in the British Isles than others. Immature Common Gulls from abroad summer to some extent in the northern and western parts of the Netherlands.
