Eurasian Wigeon Anas penelope Between October 1979 and March 1980, 51 Wigeon shot for a study on the foods of the species were weighed to the nearest gram (tab. 1). In winter, birds were much heavier than those shot in autumn or spring. Winter weights agree with those from Denmark, but were much higher than those from the Soviet Union.
