Turkey is in the sixties and seventies by hundreds birdwatchers visited. These activities resulted in 1967 the establishment of the Ornithological Society of Turkey. Until 1978, when the name was changed to the Ornithological Society of the Middle East (OSME) Four Bird Reports, a checklist and many newsletters published. Since then it seems the publicity interest in Turkey was decreased. In 1983, however the magazine Birds of Turkey Founded by Max Kasparek in cooperation with the OSME.
