EBBINGE BS (1982) Actualities: Breeding success of marked barnacle geese. LIMOSA 55 (3): 104-104.

Barnacle Goose Branta leucopsis March 1979, the National Institute for Nature (RIN) began a review of population dynamics and land use in the Netherlands and the Federal Republic Germany overwintering barnacle geese population. In this context, in the wintering area over 400 Barnacle Geese ringed. The plastic leg bands are 3 inches tall and features a black inscription: a letter or a digit or one, two or three horizontal lines. The letters and numbers are three times engraved on the ring, so that these sides are aile to read (see photo). There are several color combinations for: yellow-yellow, yellow-white, white-white, lichtgroenwit. There are also a number of birds with a leg a (small) aluminum ring of the Vogeltrekstation and the other leg with a plastic shade inscription.
