SWENNEN C (1981) Stellers Eider Polysticta stelleri new for the Netherlands. LIMOSA 54 (3): 93-95.

In the last week of May 1981 (25-29) a mixed pair of ♀ Steller's Eider Polysticta stelleri x ♂ Eider Somateria mollissima was observed in the Eider colony on Schiermonnikoog. During high tide the birds stayed in the dunes c. 1.5 km from the sea.
In the last years some other records of Steller's Eiders are known in the Dutch Wadden Sea area: 8 May 1979, a male accompanied by some female Eiders flying over the saltmarsh on Schiermonnikoog; 5, 23 July and 2 August 1980 a male Steller's Eider in a group of Eiders along the shore of the Wadden Sea on Terschelling. (On the first date the bird was in breeding plumage, on the second date the bird was in eclipse and on the last date the bird was unable to fly and probably in moult of the flight feathers.)
