REMEEUS A (1977) Short announcements: Record of a leucistic Red-backed Shrike Lanius collurio near W~ssenaar. LIMOSA 50 (3): 147-148.

A leucistic juvenile Red-backed Shrike Lanius collurio was observed for two weeks, 24 July- 7 August 1976, in the dunes near Wassenaar, north of The Hague. The bird was accompanied by an adult c? till 25 July. Head and ventral side of the bird were white, except for dark lores and some cream-coloured feathers near the tail base; tail and dorsal side of the rump were isabelline; bill and legs very dark, probably black; eyes were dark red. The exceptional shyness of the bird was most striking. The bird was frequently attacked by Willow Warbler Phylloscopus trochilus and Wheatear Oenanthe oenathe. Red-backed Shrike Lanius collurio
