OUWENEEL GL (1975) Wintering Sandwich Terns Sterna sandvicensis in The Netherlands. LIMOSA 48 (3): 197-201.

Sandwich Tern Thalasseus sandvicensis = Sterna sandvicensis In the winter 1972-1973 two observations were made of a Sandwich Tern Sterna sandvicensis in the Brouwershavense Gat, provinoe of Zeeland. In the following winter between January 19th and February 9th there were several Sandwich Terns on the same place. In the winter of 1974-1975, from December 27th till into the month of March, frequently one or more Sandwich Terns could be observed on this location, with a maximum of four on January 18th. Without doubt the terns wintered here. The last f,ew years several other winter-records took place along the West-European coasts. In January 1975 Prater observed several hundreds of Sandwich Terns along the Portuguese coast and in winter 1972-1973 some terns were fr,equently observed along the southern coast of Bretagne, France. In Britain Sandwich Terns were seen on four locations during F,ebruary 1974.
