On May 4, 1973 died in Kampen, after a long illness at age 71 Dr. age. C. G. B. ten Kate, honorary member of the Dutch Ornithological Union, an honorary member of the Club Dutch ornithologist and former editor of Limosa. Although W. H. Bierman (1966) already on his 65th birthday A detailed life of him written notice (Limosa 39 (1966): 159-160), will present some additional discussion largely to life and works of Dr.. Ten Kate are devoted. Cornelis Gerrit ten Kate Berend was born on July 8, 1901 in Kampen, where, only a short break, spent his whole life. Raised in the big house on the doctor and his beautiful IJsselkade view, he accompanied at a young age when his father, a carriage, his patients at the then actual Kampereiland visited. There, his love for nature and especially for the birds gained and there shot his romantic love of the Zuiderzee and the environment van Kampen, who has not left his life.
