This paper deals with obse'rvations of birds in the Danube-delta on May 20--26, 1972, the first three days during the excursion of the Xth Conference of the European Section of the International Council for Bird Preservation. On May 23-25 the author and his wife and Mr. and Mrs. Segnestam (Sweden) stayed at the village Mila 23 and from there trips by punt were made in the surrounding marshes. Lakes Carciovata, Tri-Ozera, Vircena, Casaniel, Cablovata and Lideanca were visited. The landscape features are described and some of the relations of these features and the birds observed are mentioned
