KIST J & WALDECK K (1961) Frst record of Anthus cervinus and Motacilla flava feldegg. LIMOSA 34 (1): 1-6.

On May 13th, 1960, amidst 100-150 Grey-headed Wagtails (Motacilla flava thunbergi) a pair of Red-throated Pipits (Anthus cervinus) in full summer plumage was observed in the new Flevo-polder, In the male the whole chin, throat, cheeks and breast were of a dark brick-red, whilst the female only showed some reddish tinge on chin and throat. In both birds the streaking of the rump and upper tail coverts was clearly seen. An obvious field mark were the bright pinkish I' e d legs, which could be observed from a great distance, Several times the characteristic call-note - a rather long-drawn. very clear psee - was heard. The call somewhat resembles that of the Reed Bunting. but it lacks the questioning intonation of that species, The Red-throated Pipit is new to the Dutch list, Among the Grey-headed Wagtails the writers observed also a beautiful male of the Balkan-race, Motacilla flava feldegg, This subspecies. too, is new to the Dutch list. Red-throated Pipit Anthus cervinus Black-headed Wagtail Motacilla feldegg = Motacilla flava feldegg Grey-headed Wagtail Motacilla thunbergi = Motacilla flava thunbergi
