ANDREAS CH & SCHOTSMAN HD (1960) Short contributions: Grey-headed Woodpecker near Groningen. LIMOSA 33 (3): 203-203.

On February 24th, 1960 a Picus was seen from a distance of 18 metres, that according to both observers was without any doubt a female of Picus canus. Though there are 4 records of specimens, seen in the Netherlands, viz. 2 in the last century, 1 in 1952 and 1 in 1957, the Committee for the Dutch Avifauna did not accept this species for the List of Names of the Dutch Birds, published in 1958 (see Limosa 31, p. 107-119).
