BEZEMER KWL & RAMPEN, J (1960) First record of the Ring-necked Duck Aythya collaris in th e Netherlands.. LIMOSA 33 (1): 1-6.

A specimen of the Ring-necked Duck was observed on a pool in the dunes of Wassenaar (near the Hague) on the morning of 15th March. The bird was a drake in full plumage, with a conspicuous white mark in front of the wing and a very distinct white sub-terminal band across the bill; no ring round the neck was seen in the field. The possibility that the bird was an escape is very remote. The bird mostly associated with some Pochards and always returned to the same two pools. where several ornithologists observed it till 23rd March when it was last seen. This is not only the first record of this species in the Netherlands, but also on the continent. Mention is made of the two recent records of col/ads in England.Aythya collaris Ring-necked Duck
