KIST J (1959) Marsh Sandpiper Tringa stagnatilis new for the Dutch list. LIMOSA 32 (3): 112-117.
Marsh Sandpiper Tringa stagnatilis On May 3d, 1958 a specimen of Tringa stagnatilis was caught by Count LIPPENS near the Reserve Het Zwin in Belgium at a distance of 40 metres from the Dutch border after the bird had flown over the Dutch territory in the utmost Western part of Dutch Flanders for about 50 metres (now in the collection of the Royal Institute of Natural History in Brussels) (See for this ninth record for Belgium also Le Gerfaut 48, 1958, p. 260). On August 22nd and September 6th of the same year another - apparently the same - specimen was seen by other Belgian ornithologists near Hoek in the middle of Dutch Flanders (See also ibidem 49, 1959, p. 124). Already on May 30th, 1957 again another Belgian bird-watcher saw a wader not far from the locality last-mentioned in Dutch Flanders, that according to him most certainly belonged to the same species (See De Wielewaal 23. 1957, p. 244 and also Limosa 32, 1959, p. 52). These are the first records of this species for the Netherlands
