(2013) Rare Birds in The Netherlands in 2011. LIMOSA 86 (4): 229-235.

This contribution is a summary of the annual report of the Dutch rarities committee (CDNA) over the year 2011, published in Dutch Birding (Ovaa et al. 2012). In 2011, two new species were added to the Dutch avifaunal list: Eleonoras Falcon Falco eleonorae and Long-tailed Shrike Lanius schach. Other notable species recorded in 2011 were Spotted Sandpiper Actitis macularius (3rd record), Caspian Plover Charadrius asiaticus (2nd record), and a scattering of rare buntings including Masked Emberiza spodocephala, Cirl E. cirlus, Rock E. cia and Cretszchmar's Bunting E. caesia. For two of the four species that are removed from the list of species of which the CDNA reviews records because they have become too regular, Pallid Harrier Circus macrourus and Dusky Warbler Phylloscopus fuscatus, a summary of the records hitherto accepted is provided.
